Arts Leadership and Administration Sessions

The goal of the Arts Leadership and Administration track (ALAA) is to inspire and empower participants to support and advance arts education. The ALAA track is designed to connect teachers, school and district leaders, program directors, and others who are interested in active arts education leadership. In addition to the Arts Leadership and Administration sessions, all participants attend performances, musings, special events and other activities, with plenty of time built in for networking and reflection.

Tennessee Arts Academy 2024 Arts Leadership and Administration Core Classes
Daily Core Classes
Focus Areas: Arts Integration, Creative Drama, and Movement
Arts Integration, Creative Drama, and Movement is the focus area for the K – 6 elementary/lower middle theatre sessions. Each day participants will take classes in three areas of study that are especially designed for classroom generalist teachers, librarians, special education, physical education and gifted teachers. Arts Integration will help facilitate the learning process in traditional subject areas. Creative drama will focus on improvisational and non-performance aspects of theatre. A final daily class in movement and dance will be offered. All elementary theatre participants will attend all three classes.

Daily Core Classes

Every day, participants will be led in discussion and dialogue with TAA Arts Leadership and Administration Director, Amanda Galbraith.

This workshop invites participants to explore approaches to analyzing their musical ecosystem and how it celebrates the communities we serve. Interactive strategies that will be shared include ways to expand culturally responsive strategies, build social emotional learning, and engage more students. Additional strategies will demonstrate how to build on existing programs and re-imagine new possibilities in all learning environments from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
